6th inning rally

This afternoon the 12U Loudoun Liberty Black split their double header. They lost the first game to the Tri City Thunder 10-2. They came out strong with a 2-0 lead in the first inning. After that  errors  hurt the Liberty. Maddie Johnson pitched a great game with 92 pitches and 66% strike and only 2 walks. Unfortunately we made those errors and gave up 2 out rallies in 3 consecutive innings. However the second game was a gem. The girls were really competitive and we were down 4-0 in the top of the 6th inning. That is right we played 6 innings. The girls scored 5 runs in the top of the inning. It was led off by our two guest players Mac and Nicole who both hit well in the second game. Once we got the first two runs in the Comets went to their ace pitcher and I felt very good because we were at our 2,3, and 4 hitters. Which hit very well off of fast pitchers. Guess what they did not let us down. Scarlet, Maddie H., and Rachel moved people around. Peyton got on with a drop 3. Then Izzy got hold of one which was a triple and we had our 5 runs that ended the inning with only 1 out. The girls came out and on defense 3 up 3 down to win a great game. Everyone contributed. Taylor hit a couple of good hard hits that were caught in the air. You can see her confidence gaining. She did a great job backing up the infield when one got past our shortstop. Rylee was filling in at Shortstop and did a good job playing not at 100%. Rachel caught a fly ball. Oh yea Mac caught the final out a fly ball at second. Maddie Howell pitched a gem of a game also. 6 innings she threw 74 pitches and 70% strike rate. 9 strike outs and only 1 walk. What I was most impressed with is when they were down they fought through and came back. Now on to the tournaments. We finished the spring scrimmages at 4 and 2. Both losses to 12B 2nd years. Next week will be our first games at 100%. Go Liberty.
